Palmerston North Middle Districts Lions Club · 202D

Serving the Palmy community for over 50 years

We're a 50-plus member club of local volunteers raising funds, running community projects and supporting people in need across the Manawatū.

About the club

Middle Districts Lions Club

Palmerston North Middle Districts Lions Club (202D) has been proudly serving the community needs in the Manawatū for over 50 years.

We are a 50-plus member club having a real impact on the local community – raising funds through projects like Lions Mini Golf, Market Day and Christmas Cakes, then giving it back through community grants and hands-on service.

Who we help

An ongoing project began in 1991 when our President and Past President were invited to meet our Member of Parliament, Steve Maharey, and then Mayor Paul Rieger. They were told the city's Methodist and Salvation Army food banks needed help – and Lions have been helping ever since.

How we help

The Lions Clubs International motto is We Serve – selfless service to others in need in our local community. We work tirelessly raising funds to assist others less fortunate, and you'll also find us on small building or gardening projects that owners are unable to complete.

Our causes

Eight pillars of service

Whenever Lions club members get together, problems get smaller and communities get better. We help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.

Child Cancer

Bringing hope to children and families affected by cancer through tangible service and support.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a global epidemic. We see its effects in our communities and are doing something about it together.

Environment

Our environment is more than a background – it's our home, and we're committed to caring for it.

Hunger

True community improvement depends on the thriving of its members, so we work to ease hunger locally.

Vision

Since Helen Keller inspired us in 1925, we've served and advocated for the blind and visually impaired.

Youth

Young people are a dynamic force for good – we serve youth as beneficiaries, partners and service leaders.

Humanitarian

Giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants, locally and globally.

Disaster

Whenever disaster strikes, Lions are often among the first to offer aid, backed by Lions Clubs International Foundation.
